Breeding Objectives

Production Objectives

Here at Hopea Stud our objectives are focused on the adequate growth from birth to weaning to allow our consumers to reach the prime lamb market earlier with better results. We also want our sheep to have good confirmation and structural attributes that meet breed standards, with clean heads and legs.

The prime lamb market also creates the need to have ease of lambing and survivability rates to gain the full potential of both the rams and ewes with multiple births preferred to increase productivity. Most importantly they should have excellent muscling throughout the entirety of the body to gain top price at market, which is one of the primary objectives of a prime lamb breeder.

Performance Objectives

Lambplan performance is used throughout our flock and allows us to make further judgement on the potential of sires and dams and how they will perform through growth rates and genetics
